    With a deep dedication to food and beverage innovation, Wayne personally developed the brand’s proprietary recipes for over 150 drinks and snacks. From handcrafted milk teas to bold fusion bites, his creations continue to define Tapioca Express’s signature taste.

    Driven by a passion for quality and wellness, Wayne is always ahead of the curve—introducing healthier options and staying on top of emerging food trends.     Growing up between two cultures, Stephanie Hsueh carried cherished memories of authentic Taiwanese boba tea from his youth. Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for food exploration led him to a bold vision in his late 20s: bringing the genuine taste of Taiwanese boba tea to America, but with an innovative twist that would captivate American palates.

    In 1999, Stephanie personally developed every recipe, carefully selecting each ingredient to create the perfect fusion of traditional Asian flavors and American tastes. Starting with our first store in Alhambra, California, Tapioca Express became America’s first boba tea and Asian snack food franchise.

    TIMELINE

    1999

    Tapioca Express was founded in Alhambra, California, introducing authentic Taiwanese tea culture to the U.S.

    2001–2005

    Entered a period of rapid growth through franchising and quickly expanded throughout California.

    2003

    Recognized by the Asian Business Association for our excellence and influence in the Asian American business community.

    2008

    Officially expanded into U.S. college campuses, growing our reach among student communities.

    2019–2023

    Upgraded to a modern POS system and introduced self-service kiosks. Launched diverse new menu items and officially partnered with DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub in 2022 to offer seamless delivery.

    2023–2025

    Collaborated with Red Bull to launch a limited-edition product line. In 2025, our Tapioca Express mobile ordering app officially launched on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

    Today

    Signed exclusive agency rights in India with plans to open 5–10 new stores over the next 3 years. Currently operating 20+ stores in the U.S., Tapioca Express continues expanding globally, with a goal to recruit an additional 5–10 franchisees by 2026.
